For The Love Of Dogs

This website and my other site, The Little Dog Diaries, are about my life long passion, dogs. If you've come to this site, you may know what I mean when I say my life as I know it today revolves around my four dogs. You may understand what I mean when I say my heart aches when I hear of millions of healthy, happy dogs being euthanized in inhumane ways throughout the United States on a yearly basis. Or you get it when I confront people I see that are treating their dogs unkindly by jerking them around by their choke chain or educate (a little loudly) people for leaving their dog in a car with all the windows rolled up on a hot August afternoon even if it was only for a few minutes.

Because of my love for dogs, I spend my free time doing dog rescue. My husband has been known to call it my "full time job with lots of overtime without benefits or a paycheck." I call it my purpose in life. Some days rescue work can become all consuming and at times, it is difficult to balance it with my other responsibilities. This is one of the reasons I decided to develop these two sites.

As a volunteer director and regional coordinator for a nationwide breed rescue organization that has rescued over 16,000 dogs since its inception, I know the reasons why people give up their dogs. I also know it usually takes a long time for people to come to this decision. It is not an easy decision to make.

Through this site, and my other site, The Little Dog Diaries, I hope to be able to do my part in offering solutions and hope to those going through what millions of other people are going through as they consider the options available to them in terms of what is best for their dog and their family's well being. We hope they will seek an alternative option, other than surrendering their dog, once they realize that their dog can enrich their life.

I decided to build my dog related sites because it was time for a change. To show people that they can have fun and be happy with their dogs, and how and where they can have fun with their dogs. Some of us have already discovered these bonding, relationship strengthening, fun and games, and the quiet, peaceful times that bring us closer to our dogs.

Thank you for reading and sharing this site. With your help and participation, a dog's life may be saved.
